About
OpsWork was built inside a working HV substation design practice — not by a SaaS company looking for a vertical to enter.
The founder
UK HV electrical engineer specialising in 11kV–400kV substation design — AIS and GIS, transmission, distribution and generation connections. 15 years of working with UK DNOs: SSEN, UKPN, NGED, SPEN and ENWL. Managing Director of Saqib Engineering Ltd, based in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.
Day-to-day work covers DNO framework deliveries, fault level studies, earthing and bonding to BS EN 50522, cable rating per IEC 60287, G99 connection assessments, NEC4 contract administration, and NERS-accredited delivery to Section 13.
Recent and current work includes DNO primary substation design at 33/11kV, high-voltage cable route assessments, G99 grid connection applications for renewable developers, and ongoing NERS Section 13 evidence delivery for our own framework appointments.
OpsWork is built from this work — not imagined, not designed by committee. Every agent solves a problem we have hit in production.
Origin
Every weekend was spent on administration. Not engineering. Compiling NERS evidence. Drafting acknowledgements to enquiries that arrived overnight. Chasing CDM notifications. Reconciling NEC4 obligations against a calendar of statutory deadlines.
The administrative work was real, important, and necessary — but it was eating the engineering. So we built OpsWork for our own practice first. Emma has been handling every enquiry since April 2026. Sarah maintains our NERS passport daily. James tracks NEC4 obligations across every live project. The evidence pack that used to take a Sunday evening now takes one click.
Now opening to four further UK HV consultancies, ICPs and substation delivery teams in 2026.
